Staff: Carmen Alvarez

Carmen Alvarez joins us Friends as a Program Manager, bringing a multifaceted background in child welfare and education. Her career spans roles such as case manager, family functional therapist, foster care trainer, and early childhood mental health consultant, culminating in her recent position as an education director in the preschool sector.A lifelong learner, Carmen recently enhanced her skill set with a Project Management certification, aligning with her commitment to professional growth. In her role at Friends of the Children, she is dedicated to positively impacting the lives of our achievers and mentors, fostering an environment where students can thrive.

Carmen’s educational philosophy is rooted in compassion, responsibility, and building a community of engaged thinkers. She is passionate about creating a welcoming atmosphere that aligns with the essential human needs of belonging and safety.
