Ramon Reyes has dedicated his entire career to Youth Development. Growing up in the Lower East Side of Manhattan as a Boys Club of New York member, Ramon experienced firsthand the transformative power of mentorship. He credits his success to several mentors in his life, and he has made it his mission to provide the same support to others. Throughout his career, Ramon has fostered the development of future leaders, many of whom now direct nonprofits nationwide, including his successor at Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club.
During his tenure at Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club, Ramon orchestrated a period of remarkable growth and innovation. Under his visionary leadership, the organization significantly expanded its reach, increased fundraising efforts, and enhanced program quality. He spearheaded initiatives that focused on academic enrichment, career readiness, and personal development, ensuring that every young person had the resources and support needed to thrive.
One of Ramon’s standout achievements is his successful management of several capital enhancement projects, including a transformative $10 million renovation. This project not only revitalized the facility but also created dynamic spaces where young people could explore, learn, and grow. Ramon’s adeptness in financial stewardship, governance, and strategic planning has cemented his reputation as a trusted and effective leader.
Ramon’s academic background is as impressive as his professional accomplishments. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Pace University, with a minor in nonprofit management. His commitment to continuous learning is evident through his participation in executive programs at Clemson University and the Thomas Garth Executive Leadership Program. Ramon stays at the forefront of Youth Development by actively engaging with national organizations and contributing to discussions on emerging trends and best practices.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Ramon is deeply invested in community service and athletics. He is a respected member of the Nassau County Board of Women’s Basketball Officials Association and dedicates his time to coaching basketball for young people. His dedication to community service has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including the Herman Prescott Award, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Northeast Region Executive Director of the Year award, the Paul Harris Fellow award from Rotary, and the I CAN Award for his exceptional mentorship. Ramon’s leadership extends beyond his organizational roles; he is a sought-after consultant for other nonprofits, providing valuable insights and guidance.
Despite his professional demands, Ramon remains devoted to his family, caring for his 89-year-old mother and cherishing moments with his partner, friends, and two daughters, who themselves are dedicated to human resources and advocacy work.
