May 22, 2024 2024 Reading in the Park with Neuberger Berman We recently teamed up with Neuberger Berman, an investment management firm here in New York, for a corporate partnership event called “Reading in the Park” to celebrate National Children’s Book Week! Through story time with the Neuberger Berman volunteers, we gave our K-5 Achievers time to work on reading comprehension and proficiency. This is our fourth year collaborating with Neuberger Berman on this event, and we were so excited to work with them again! Exploring Engaging Stories Despite initial weather concerns, the event went off without a hitch. Volunteers and Achievers alike were able to enjoy the gorgeous May weather in Central Park, while reading through this year’s selections. They included beautiful titles, such as: Tiny Wonders by Sally Soweol HanChange Sings by Amanda GormanThe Together Tree by Aisha SaeedSalt In His Shoes by Michael JordanThe Book With No Pictures by BJ NovakSulwe by Lupita Nyong’oYou Have A Voice by Vera Ahiyya Throughout the event, participants immersed themselves in these stories of friendship, resilience, and inspiring change in one’s community. Our Achievers enjoyed every moment, sounding out words and talking through the meaning of each book. As they made their way through the selections, they stayed engaged, asked questions, and made great strides towards improving their literacy skills. Reflecting on the Power of Partnerships The partnership between Neuberger Berman and Friends of the Children New York exemplifies the transformative impact that corporate collaboration can have on local communities. By investing in programs that foster youth development and promote educational opportunities, Neuberger Berman demonstrates its commitment to creating a brighter future for all. We look forward to a continued partnership with Neuberger Berman, and providing more fun learning opportunities for our Achievers!
