August 19, 2024 Cleaning Up The Neighborhood With CIM Group On Thursday, August 15th, Friends of the Children New York joined forces with CIM Group for another community cleanup event at the West 132nd Community Street Garden. Our dedicated Achievers, Friends, and enthusiastic volunteers from CIM Group took the afternoon to come together and improve our neighborhood. The event kicked off with a warm welcome, icebreakers to get everyone acquainted, and instructions on the day’s activities ahead. Afterward, the group dispersed to begin cleaning up trash around the block to create a cleaner environment for all. Next, the team moved on to weeding along Lennox Avenue, where our staff, Achievers, and volunteers worked side by side to clear overgrown areas, utilizing the power of teamwork to get the job done. Another group turned their attention to the garden to water plants and clear fallen branches to ensure the garden was at its best when they left. Afterwards, reflections on the day's accomplishments were highlighted over pizza and watermelon. It was a beautiful day, filled with new memories between all who participated. We want to say thank you to CIM Group for their support and to all the volunteers who worked with us to clean up Harlem. A special shout out also to CIM Group employee Dan Schapiro, who not only serves as a board member at Friends New York but also was willing to roll up his sleeves for the community during this event. We love partnering with a company who cares so much for their community. Their commitment to working with underserved communities as part of their corporate social responsibility framework is inspiring, and we’re grateful to work with them to end the cycle of poverty through the work we do.
