Alex Kirkpatrick

Associate Program Director for Education and Community Wellness

Alex Kirkpatrick is a transformational counseling leader and equity advocate dedicated to creating environments where every young person feels seen, supported, and empowered. With over a decade of experience in school counseling, mental health therapy, youth advocacy, and school operations, she has led teams, built student-centered systems, and designed programs that elevate academic success, emotional wellness, and long-term opportunity.

Alex’s career spans leadership roles in NYC and Washington State, where she has guided counseling departments, developed culturally responsive curricula, and championed trauma-informed care. Her work is grounded in equity, access, and belonging, ensuring that young people and families have the tools and relationships they need to thrive.

A licensed mental health counselor (WA) and soon-to-be licensed in New York, Alex holds advanced degrees from Hunter College and Alfred University. She brings to Friends of the Children New York a deep commitment to mentoring, community partnership, and dismantling systemic barriers for youth.
