A Beautiful Day for Change: The 5th Annual 'Run With Friends' 5K

On a beautiful, sunny day in Riverside Park, Friends of the Children New York hosted our 5th Annual 'Run With Friends' 5K. With blue skies overhead and enthusiasm all around, participants checked in, collected their official race t-shirts, and prepared for the 3.1-mile loop through the park.

The event kicked off promptly at 10AM with opening remarks from our Executive Director, Ramon Reyes, and Richard Lorenzen, Chairman of our Leadership Council, who both shared inspiring words about the impact of professional mentorship on the lives of our Achievers. After some energizing music to get everyone in the zone, the race began!

Runners, walkers, and joggers of all levels enjoyed the scenic route, cheered on by friends, family, and fellow supporters. After crossing the finish line, participants were treated to fresh fruit, water, and granola bars to refuel.

We also awarded special prizes to the top runners, recognizing their outstanding efforts. A special congratulations goes to our overall winner, William Neumann, who crossed the finish line first!

We also want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who fundraised through our crowdfunding pages. Together, we raised funds to support the professional mentorship of NYC youth facing systemic obstacles. Your efforts are truly making a difference!

And a special shoutout to Daniel Felder, former Friend and Program Manager, who captured all of the event's beautiful moments through his photography.

In the end, everyone who participated helped make a difference for our Achievers and the mission of Friends of the Children New York. Thank you to all who joined us, whether in person or through donations and fundraising efforts, to support NYC youth facing systemic obstacles.
