Building Connections: Highlights from Our Career Fair

This week, we opened our doors for a Career Fair that brought together Achievers, families, and community members for an afternoon of connection, conversation, and career exploration. The event drew a strong turnout, filling the room with enthusiasm and thoughtful questions as guests engaged directly with professionals from a wide range of industries.

The day began with a tabling session where young people and families could meet company representatives, ask questions about their roles, and learn more about different career paths — all while picking up a few giveaways along the way. The room buzzed with conversations as Achievers explored industries they had never encountered before and built new connections.

The highlight of the event was a panel discussion featuring professionals from across the city, including two members of the Friends of the Children New York community: Candace Arthur, board member and Partner at Latham & Watkins LLP, and Travis King, our newest Leadership Council member and Global Finance Associate at Paul Hastings. Each panelist shared their career journeys and fielded questions from Achievers and families about everything from finding the right path to managing self-care and work-life balance.

A huge thank you to all the professionals who took the time to join us and share their experiences, insights, and career journeys! Your willingness to connect and engage with our Achievers, their families, and the broader community made a real impact. We’re grateful for your support and for helping create meaningful opportunities for the next generation to learn, ask questions, and imagine new possibilities.

The thoughtful questions, honest conversations, and strong community presence made the day a true success. Events like this are an important part of our mission to create meaningful opportunities for young people to expand their horizons and connect with people who can help guide and inspire them along the way.
