March 22, 2025 "I Am Woman": Celebrating Empowerment for the Second Year For the second year in a row, Friends of the Children New York celebrated Women's History Month with our "I Am Woman" event—an uplifting day dedicated to empowerment, healing, and self-care for the women and girls in our community. This special gathering was open to Achievers, their caregivers, and their siblings, providing a space to honor womanhood in all its strength and beauty. Throughout the day, attendees participated in a variety of wellness and self-care activities, including yoga, singing bowls, sage, affirmations, and healing music. A high-energy Zumba session brought everyone together in movement, while hair styling, skin care, and body oil treatments allowed guests to indulge in moments of self-care. The event fostered connection, reflection, and celebration—centering the importance of mental, physical, and emotional well-being. One of the event highlights was the Zumba session led by our Program Manager Reina, who shared her passion for dance and community: "I absolutely loved teaching dance fitness to my FOTCNY community at the I Am Woman event. The art of moving together, responding to music, and creating shared experiences strengthens bonds and creates a sense of belonging. Dance brings people of all backgrounds together and fosters a sense of community. Dance is life." At Friends of the Children New York, we believe in creating spaces where our Achievers and their families can feel seen, valued, and supported. The "I Am Woman" event is a testament to the power of community and the strength of women lifting each other up. We look forward to continuing this tradition and expanding opportunities for healing, empowerment, and joy in the years to come!
