Achievers Discover Legal Careers and Skills at Fenwick & West
This past week, our Achievers spent an inspiring Law Day at the offices of Fenwick & West LLP, gaining a deeper understanding of the legal system while also exploring the many career paths available within a law firm.
The day began with a warm welcome from the Fenwick team, who shared the history of Law Day and explained how it was established by President Eisenhower to recognize the role of law in upholding our democracy. With this important context, our Achievers were ready to engage in a full day of learning and fun.
The first activity was a game of “Guess Who?” where Achievers matched employees to their job titles by asking strategic questions. This exercise offered a fun way to see the wide variety of roles that exist in the legal field, sparking conversations about the different skills and interests those jobs require. Building on that, the group then took part in a trivia challenge, testing what they knew about our laws and earning Starbucks gift cards along the way. Finally, a guided tour of the offices followed, giving Achievers a closer look at the inner workings of a major law firm before taking a break for lunch.
In the afternoon, the focus turned to intellectual property with an engaging presentation on trademark law. This session prepared them for the highlight of the day: serving as jurors in a mock trial of Snow White vs. The Evil Queen. After listening to both sides of the case and discussing the evidence, our Achievers reached their verdict and declared Snow White not guilty.
Opportunities like Law Day give our youth a chance to see the world from new perspectives, connect with professionals in fields they may not have considered, and practice skills such as critical thinking and decision-making. We want to thank Fenwick & West LLP for hosting us and for their commitment to investing in the next generation. We look forward to continuing this partnership and creating more moments that inspire our Achievers to dream bigger!
